Amusing cartoon aside, Benj has admitted responsibility & remorse, and IMO firing him for a first offense would contradict the concept of progressive discipline. Not paying him for this article, plus sternly warning him that he’s now on probation & will be fired if it happens again, would be the proper approach. He will now be the butt of many journalism school case studies, and that level of professional humiliation will certainly teach him an important lesson.
