I can’t disagree.
I’m all for robots replacing humans for sex work because I believe that (the vast majority of the time) sex work is inherently risky and/or harmful to the worker (psychologically if nothing else).
One may feel that adults should be able to sell themselves in this way if they want, but would you honestly and truly be ok with someone you care about doing sex work? Think about your parents, siblings, grown children, etc. If that thought bothers you then it should probably bother you for anyone else.
OTOH, if one of these things can truly fill in for a human in this way, it’s going to make it that much easier to avoid dealing with the problems that prevent people from having both physical and emotional intimacy.
I think there are many people that wouldn't hire a sex worker but would be willing to “connect” with a robot.
That is bad for the robot user in the long run (you can have meaningless sex with another human but there is at least a chance that something meaningful blossoms) and potentially bad for fertility rates, which is necessary for the human race and a healthy society.
South Korea’s fertility rate is about 1.0. That society is effectively committing slow suicide in aggregate, and sex robots aren’t going to help.
