Point taken. What could work is to bring a select subset of the old timers back in temporarily to help get the engineering culture back on track. Much as you'd restart your gut biome after abdominal surgery, consider the oldsters to be the probiotics that Boeing needs to get restarted. All the shuffling and replacing of C-suite suits won't make a dimes worth of difference when everyone on the factory floor has been incentivized for decades to do things wrong. No amount of motivational posters or "quality" training can substitute for a few good people to mentor engineers and workers in the art of designing and building great products.I don't think that's feasible. That was almost 30 years ago. Many have retired or died at this point.
