Just curious, which of the "legal to buy" things that you're thinking of cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting, which can last for up to a week?

I'm struggling to think of any.
Any of the products that are generally sold and/or served with a warning about the risks of consuming raw or undercooked foods would fall into this category, as well as alcohol, cannabis, and any number of other (legal) drugs if misused. We allow plenty of things to be sold that cause a whole lot more harm overall than the case numbers being cited here.

As long as an informed adult makes the decision to buy and/or consume raw milk, prohibiting sales of raw milk seems a bit silly. Maybe we should strengthen regulations around sanitation when milk is being collected for raw consumption, but anything more seems like overreach. It may be worth considering harsher regulations when it comes to feeding raw milk to an infant resulting in serious illness, but this would need to be handled with a lot of care.
