That is the basic underpinning of politics. Telling the truth in politics is the surest and quickest route out of politics.

Example, democratic governments have not had new spending initiatives since around the seventies. They all "invest". Doesn't matter at all how it is spent, it is all investment. You know like how rock stars invest in coke and hookers.
