    To be fair, it isn't the fact that it needs power that they're criticising. It's the fact that, in order not to have an inelegant second cable plugging into your TV (or a cable going from the dongle to the wall) you have to be in the minority who have an HDMI 1.4-equipped TV.

    Minority? HDMI 1.4 has been out for years and is pretty widespread. If you've bought a TV in the past few years, chances are it has HDMI 1.4.
