Comparisons versus internet explorer only? Could we not have seen how the performance faired on a browser that actually cares about performance and has worked at it for more than two years?
Developers largely don't target internet explorer, performance or design wise. Large corporate ones do, of course, but most would just as soon include a compatibility library like the one Google offers and call it a day.
