Elon Musk’s X allows China-based propaganda banned on other platforms

I understand the impulse to censor and ban everyone and everything you disagree with so you can preserve your safe space is overwhelming and exactly what this article and this entire comment thread is about. Hating Musk, hating Trump, and regarding anyone who disagrees as a bot. Hilarious.
Maybe all you cultists shouldn't sound like brainless unthinking clones of each other?

And look. Anyone that looks at two pedos who treat everyone as less than human and finds nothing to hate just says a lot about themselves.

And what does pandering for a sex offender and the world's biggest man-baby say about you?

Zuckerberg does own a controlling stake of Facebook. But musk owns almost all of Twitter.
Ah, yeah, Meta has a dual-class structure where Zuck doesn't technically own most of it (it's like 15% or so) but he and his buddies own special Super Shares that give them 10x the voting power of average shareholders. So he doesn't technically own most of the company, but it's basically impossible to outvote him.

I'm just astounded that these individuals feel compelled to defend somebody that does not, and never will, know who they are.
I should know because I used to do it as well with Elon.
In the case of Trump, the true believers fully gorge themselves on his proclamation that he’s fighting for them. It would be interesting if one could quantify the MAGA voters as to what percent are true believers and how many are just being asses. “Owning the libs,” even if that heretic is no such thing, is required at their altar of worship.

I keep asking and asking and asking and asking............

And still, nobody will give me even a single example of the posts that get them banned.
Because posting the trolling that got them banned would make them look bad.

or

There never was a banning, and like almost everything else these idiots do, they made it up for attention.

Because the status-quo is fucked. It does not work for the average person.

I don’t see most folks here advocating pure socialism. It needs to be the balance between that an capitalism. We see this in Europe including the happiest country in the world.

If it is only capitalism it is destined to fail at some point.
Being against broken Capitalism is not being "pro-socialist" by any stretch. Also, they compared Ars to Youtube comments - which is hilarious. Ars has a very intelligent and informed public, while YouTube is infested with idiots, horny teenagers, and incels. If you want to know what average human intelligence sounds like - go to YouTube.

Why is this shit service still around? If you're still on it, your complicit in any damages caused.
That's the unfair moat that Twitter has. People spent years and years accumulating followers and algorithmic advantage - it is REALLY hard to abandon that and start from scratch. Perhaps some hope the service will go Chapter 11 and be acquired by private equity. That's not great, but at least they are not known for posting racist tweets.

If this happened to, say, Instagram, you would see the same thing. Network effect is powerful in both directions.

Which country isn't a lying piece of shit? It is an honest question. Some lie more than others. But no country has clean hands here. USA is definitely not clear, particularly when you think about PRISM project, or just Trump open his ass for that matter.

This story is about a specific form of lying: posing as citizens of the county being lied to. Here are examples of Russians pretending to be Americans in order to provoke violence. Do you have examples of Americans pretending to be Chinese or Russian citizens?

Definitely is true. A friend's parents just sold their house that they bought 40-50 years ago for an obscene 450k in butt fuck nowhere and it's not even that nice. It sold super quick , and that's part of the problem that compounds itself because it just keeps causing prices to rise.

It's worse when you add in that said friend needs an affordable house desperately for her family and her parents refused to sell it to them at a reasonable price that would've still given them a huge profit over what they paid for it. Not to mention they don't even need the money to be able to afford the new house they are buying.
I understand that home prices are ridiculous. I’m a Boomer. That being said, in my life I‘ve -never- seen house prices decrease. Prices may stagnate for a time but not go down. The world is too unstable. Democracy is shrinking worldwide. Immigration into the U.S. will only increase, thus putting stress on demand. And climate change. More and more of this world becomes uninhabitable. As a young person today, shack up with friends or parents. Save for that down payment.

Regarding censorship, you can ’say’ only what ’any platform’ will allow you to say. How Twitter/X remains viable is a mystery to me. Elon Musk makes X an extension of his personality. I’m glad I’ve never used it.

See Average Sales Price of Houses Sold for the United States (ASPUS) at the St Louis Fed. The average price of a home sold in Q4 of 2022 was $552,600. The average price in Q4 of 2023 was ¢492,300. Of course, these numbers may be distorted by compositional effects.

There was also a notable and sustained decline in housing prices after the 2007 financial crisis. You may remember all the news of people being stuck with "underwater" mortgages.

Unbearable drivel… I‘m angry I can’t get back the 20 seconds I wasted wading through this insufferable bellyaching of “modern thinking”.
"Strategic Intelligence Assessment for 2019

In 2019, the FBI and DHS assessed RMVEs, primarily those advocating for the superiority of the
white race, likely would continue to be the most lethal DVE threat to the Homeland. Our agencies had high confidence in this assessment based on the demonstrated capability of RMVEs in 2019 to select weapons and targets to conduct attacks, and the effectiveness of online RMVE messaging calling for increased violence. Additionally, other DVEs likely would continue to engage in non-lethal violence and other criminal activity, and DVE reactions to socio-political events and conditions could increase attacks. The year 2019 represented the most lethal year for DVE attacks since 1995, with five separate DVE attacks resulting in 32 deaths, 24 of which occurred during attacks conducted by RMVEs advocating for the superiority of the white race.

Themes like “gamification” and “accelerationism” partly inspired some of the attacks in 2019 and likely will continue to inspire future plots. Gamification is a term where fatality counts in attacks are referred to as “scores,” as the actor desires to accomplish “achievements” or high kill counts.13 Messaging from RMVEs espousing the superiority of the white race has furthered this narrative by framing previous attacks as resulting in a “score.” Additionally, widely disseminated propaganda on online forums and encrypted chat applications that espouse similar themes regarding kill counts could inspire future attackers to mobilize faster or attempt increasingly lethal and more sophisticated attacks. These online forums and chat applications also reference accelerationism, a belief amongst some neo-Nazi and/or fascist RMVEs that the current system is irreparable, without apparent political solutions, and hence violent action is needed to precipitate societal collapse to start a race war."

According to the statistics the vast majority of domestic terrorists attacks are by right wing groups.

I'll add to the fact that recent news of Tim Dunn's political philosophy (like opinion pieces published in the last two days about his 'disturbing' political profile viewing GOP voters as Chinese society-style drones) is absolutely not flattering and can be assumed for pretty much any large GOP megadonor.

Someone like Tim Dunn is just a Koch brothers clone (one of them is dead so you can't say brothers anymore, only 'estate' when referring to fruit of the poisoned tree like the Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society)

The GOP politicians are one thing, the people whose influence must be reduced and assets seized under domestic terrorism charges are donor guys like him. They've done immeasurable damage to the fabric of democracy to the point it absolutely would be necessary to at least consider the anti-democratic retaliatory steps I listed to with any nominee other than Biden but including if the media convinces the Democrats to skip the primary process and haul off for a chaotic Democratic convention pick if Biden were to retire. He's of course too stubborn to do that, so a Democratic Convention in the summer putting the entire Democratic Party and democracy for America on the ballot against MAGA is unlikely. Which also follows that what I'm discussing may be five or ten years too early to consider.

There's still a lot of bleeding heart ink spilled over friendships and family relationships with conservatives espousing goodwill that never actually existed given it's been exposed as a collective sociopathic act for a MAGA or generic conservative voter who invariably picked one part of the platform they liked and then allowed themselves to fall into the brainwashing from there at any point in the last 50 years.

TL;DR 'Trump was right' is invariably a retroactive justification for evil behavior and ideologies when examined closely rather than easily concluded to be a 'broken clock is right twice a day' thing whenever you allow a conservative to explain to you why they support Trump or Musk.

Murdochs have a much longer history of setting up dog whistle think tanks that predate the Heritage Foundation by decades. The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is an Australian think tank that has existed since 1943. It has a history of siding with big business and publishing pieces such as smoking doesn't cause lung cancer, and has been full swing climate change denial for decades too. It is close to the Federalist Society but instead of Judges it is politicians and political policy that they have control over.

A recent example: Yulia Navalnaya got her X account suspended for a single post about continuing the fight of her late husband - Alexei Navalny.

And your feelings masquerading as facts are the same. Pity you can’t see that. You can lead a liberal to water, but they only complain about it until nobody gets good use out of it and a horse still doesn’t get a drink :)
What you just did to that metaphor would get most people sent to The Hague
