India vs Australia Live Score: There he goes! Took 10 overs, but India and Bumrah finally strike. Usman Khawaja edges to slip and Australia have lost their first wicket for 24. India and Bumrah have finally been rewarded for their tireless effort. One was beginning to wonder where that first blow would come from, especially now that the artificial lights had kicked in. Because that's when the pink ball does tricks.

India vs Australia Live: Well the openers will see that as a target ticked off. They have managed to survive the first spell from at least one of the two new-ball bowlers. India vs Australia Live: Bumrah with his face burried in his hands. The third ball of the seventh over, his fourth, lands on a good length and angles in. McSweeney squared up and it flies behind off his outside edge. Pant dives late to his right but he probably didn't need to. It was going right into the hands of Rohit at first slips. Pant ends up pushing the ball away from Rohit's hands, it hits the Indian captain on the forearm and safe. McSweeney on five off 23 at the end of that over, Khawaja on eight off 19.

India vs Australia Live: The string of maidens are over. Five runs off the fifth over from Bumrah and then four runs off the sixth. This is real backs-to-the-wall stuff from the Australian openers. Khawaja on eight off 19, McSweeney on one off 17 balls.

India vs Australia Live: No runs at all for three overs now. Siraj has started off with two consecutive maidens. The slip cordon are chirping away behind the batters as well.

India vs Australia Live: Bumrah gets the first two balls to swing away and then brings it in third ball. Khawaja leaves it and it is as tight as it gets, the ball darting in and fizzing over his stumps. Then Khawaja clips Bumrah through square leg for a four. Two dot balls to end the over.

The sun is just about starting to set now, there are long shadows being pasted around the stadium. That deadly twlight period is just coming and it will be Bumrah with the ball in his hands during that time. The third session is going to be a humdinger, regardless of which way it goes. So far, though, it has all gone Australia's way.

India vs Australia Live: Starc finishes with six wickets! Length ball around off, Reddy goes for a big one but it comes off the toe-end of the bat. It goes high up in the rain, breaks a few clouds and catches rain, Head settles under it and keeps his eye on it throughout to complete the catch. Reddy falls for 42 and Starc finishes with figures of 6/48.

India vs Australia Live:Starc with a fiery short ball fifth ball of the 43rd, Reddy goes for a big pull, misses it entirely and takes it on his badge on the helmet. Starc goes and checks on Reddy before the physios walk out and do the concussion test on him. Change of helmets and good to go. Reddy takes a swing at the last ball straightaway and misses it. Reddy is on 42 off 53, Bumrah on nought off five.

India vs Australia Live: Bumrah survives the last two balls from Boland, although he should've originally had to survive just one. That was because Boland overstepped fifth ball to bowl his second no ball of the over. Before that, he had overstepped the fourth ball right after Reddy hit the four and the batters had run two. Boland then goes short outside off and Reddy pulls it over deep midwicket. Lyon was at the boundary, he jumps with his hands up to try and get to the ball, unsucesfull and it is another six. Then the no ball and then Bumrah survives the last two balls. Reddy has raced to 42 in 46 balls.

India vs Australia Live:: Oh Reddy with the shot of the day surely! Boland, breathing fire and all with two wickets in the kitty, goes length, Reddy opens up his stance revers-scoops the delivery for a six over the slip cordon! Then Reddy just swipes Boland to the fine leg boundary for four. Reddy is on 33 off 43 balls.

India vs Australia Live: Well, we've been here before. Once again, Reddy has to squeeze as many runs as he can with the Indian tail and so far, he has done fairly well. He crashes Boland through mid-off last over for four and now, he launches the first ball from Starc in the 41st over extra cover for a six. That takes India past 150 and well, considering what happened in the first Test, Australia's optimism at the moment would be limited to being only a cautious one. They know their rickety top four have to handle Jasprit Bumrah and Co. with the pink ball under the lights very soon.

India vs Australia Live: Another vicious yorker from hell and this time there is no question about an LBW. The ball just sears through Harshit Rana and crashes onto his stumps. Starc had made his old KKR teammate duck with the previous delivery, continuing their little duel from the first Test, and then torpedoes in that yorker. Rana went for a big booming drive and the only things booming were the stumps behind him.

India vs Australia Live: Starc comes back for a spell and once again, he strikes straightaway. Vicious inswinging yorker, raps Ashwin low on the front pad and the umpire raises his finger. Ashwin reviews but surely that is just out of formality. No bat and three reds. Four wickets for the irresistible Starc.

India vs Australia Live: Well Ashwin is toying with the field a bit here. He has been flicking and driving uppishly over the infield and has even found the boundary a couple of times doing that. Ashwin has raced to 22 in 20, Reddy is still on 11 off 30.

India vs Australia Live: Reddy is on 11 off 26, Ashwin is on one off four. Another good hour for Australia, it has all gone their way thus far on Day 1. Ashwin has played a couple of lofted shots that have landed safe, he did that almost deliberately. He has scored one run.

India vs Australia Live: This is certainly the last thing India would've wanted but it is happening. Cummins seems to have found his hit-the-deck mojo. Reddy puts out very late first ball of the 35th from Cummins, the bowler sends the ball in and it hits Reddy's bat. Then Cummins bowls the first delivery again and it is an absolute brute of a bouncer at 143kph, it hits Reddy's forearm and goes behind for four byes. Two singles off the next two balls and Reddy is on 11 off 26, Ashwin on one off four balls.

India vs Australia Live: Cummins digs it in short and the ball comes at Pant's face like a giant bullet. He spoons it to the cordon. This one jumped at Pant from back of a length and the replays show that Pant had closed his eyes as the ball came at him.

India vs Australia Live: Mitchell Starc has been replaced by Pat Cummins in the 31st over. Pant takes a single off the second ball and Cummins overpitches the fourth ball outside off. Reddy sends it past mid off for a four. He is off the mark at last. Reddy is on four of 13, Pant on 15 off 28.

India vs Australia Live Score: All right then, we are almost underway for the second session. Scott Boland has the ball in his hands, Rishabh Pant is facing up. It remains quite overcast and the lights are on.

India vs Australia Live: Gill was cover driving serenely, Rahul was doing the same while riding a bit of a tidal wave of luck and all was well in the world for India. And then, Pat Cummins chucked the ball back to Mitchell Starc. Cue pandemonium. Rahul didn't know whether to play or leave, Kohli didn't know whether to play or leave and India suddenly lost two wickets in consecutive Starc overs. Then Boland trapped Gill right in front of his stumps and India went from cruising along in the first session to hanging on for dear life. Life can change within moments in a Test match, more so if the ball being used is pink in colour.

India vs Australia Live: This was India's session all the way until the last 15 minutes, in which they suddenly went from 69/1 to 84/4! Rohit got beaten off the last two balls and he walks off with a big wry smile on his face. Well, it was a few minutes of madness that led to the 36 all out in India's last match here and this is familiar territory. This is pink-ball Test cricket. And Rohit wuld also know that the most difficult periods are only coming up with the light fading. Who knows? It might all work in India's favour as well, if they are all out around sunset time, Jasprit Bumrah could use some of the juice in the conditions and rattle the brittle Aussie batting lineup.

India vs Australia Live Score, 2nd Test: Right, Rohit has very clearly looked to survive more than anything else so far and surely he is going to look to do the same as Starc comes in to bowl the last over of the session. Australia have just wrestled it back from the Indians here and how they would love it if they get another wicket here.

Gill has a short chat with Pant and then walks off. Good that he did that as this was as plumb as they come. Hit somewhere around the shin in front of leg stump, umpire lifted his finger as soon as the Aussies appealed.

India vs Australia Live Score, 2nd Test: Oh what a spell this is from Mitchell Starc! First ball of the 21st over, almost an action replay of the Rahul wicket except that it didn't bounce as much. It was in that channel outside off, Kohli looked like he wanted to leave last second but ends up edging it to second slip where Smith gobbles it up.

India vs Australia Live Score, 2nd Test: Rahul done by the extra bounce and this time, he doesn't get lucky either. Short of a length on off stump, quick and nasty. Rahul seemed to shape up to defend and then pull out last second, the ball deflects off the bat and Labuschagne takes a wonderful low catch at gully. That changes things.

India vs Australia Live Score, 2nd Test: Lyon goes full outside off fourth ball of the 18th over and Rahul sends it through covers for a four. He takes a single off the next ball and stays on strike. Rahul is on 35 off 60, Gill is on 30 off 49.

Gill gets off strike first ball and Rahul then punishes the full delivery from Cummins second ball by sending it to the boundary. Rahul is on 30 off 55 at the end of the over, Gill is on 29 off 48. Nathan Lyon to now bowl the first over of spin, he replaces Boland.

Another maiden from Cummins 13th over, his fourth of this innings and then Boland returns, goes full around off, Rahul nicely leans into the cover drive for four. A thing of beauty. Rahul moves to 15 off 39, Gill at the other end on 25 off 41.

They were all out for that score in their last innings of a pink-ball Test in Adelaide, today they get there with nine wickets in hand. Rahul has been real old school today, he continues to play the Pujara role, although he almost perished doing that twice today. Lets see if he does better against Boland after this drinks break. Gill has been fluent.
